- London Premier of FINAL CUT PRO X - Larry Jordan
Apple releases Final Cut Pro X and Larry Jordan joins us to put it through its paces. He's been working with FCPX for the last six weeks and has lots of observations about where this fits in your editing workflow. He'll cover workflow, editing, a quick overview of effects and some of the key enhancements to the interface. Bring your FCPX questions - this is ONE session you can't afford to miss.Register today.
Larry Jordan is a producer, director, editor, consultant and Apple-Certified trainer with over 25 years video production and post-production experience. He is currently using his award-winning skills in training editors to use Final Cut Studio. He is the Executive Producer and Host of Creative Planet's Digital Production BuZZ, as well as author of five books on Final Cut Studio, along with a monthly on-line newsletter covering Final Cut Studio; now in its sixth year of publication.
- World Premiere of new short film produced by Red Giant Software - Simon Walker
Apple Certified Master Trainer Simon Walker will show the World Premiere of a new short film produced by Red Giant Software and demonstrate how Magic Bullet Suite made short work of some of the colour grading treatments in the film.
Simon Walker is creative director of WiltshireVideo.com, and an instructor for the International Colorist Academy. He also trains industry professionals in editing, motion graphics, colour grading, audio sweetening, and (excitingly) video compression. He is currently wondering when he'll have time during production to catch up on his Twitter feed, now that we don't have to render in FCP X.
- "Finishing in the Third Dimension" - Demystifying Smoke on Mac OS X: - Joe Billington
Looking to add depth to your creative toolset? 3D-enabled tools and workflows in finishing mean a lot more than just stereoscopic 3D. Joe Billington will rock the SuperMeet with a fun and informative presentation using Autodesk Smoke 2012 to show how adding realistic lighting effects, importing live animation from 3D applications and - of course - Stereo 3D can help you tell better stories in X, Y and Z. Autodesk is the official sponsor of 3D at the SuperMeet - so be sure to register and get there early to get your glasses.
Master of Magic, Spells and Illusion - Joe Billington uses Autodesk software like Smoke for Mac OS X and Flame to create fantastic special f/x for film, music promos and commercials. He's also chock full of screen play ideas and is a mean drummer and percussionist to boot.
- Davinci Resolve 8! - Alexis Van Hurkman
Version 8 is here! And Alexis Van Hurkman will discuss how, in the last nine months, DaVinci Resolve has changed his color correction practice. In the process he'll show off a few of his favorite Resolve workflow and color correction features in examples from projects he's worked on this last year, which includes the television pilot ‘Nuclear Family’ and the feature 'Cargo,' and give insight based on years of experience grading programs that have appeared on The History Channel, the BBC, and Discovery Channel networks.
In Alex's words: "I divide my time working as a writer, director, and colorist. Based in Manhattan, I do color correction for a wide variety of broadcast programming, narrative and documentary features and shorts, spots, and experimental subjects. I’ve color-corrected programs that have aired on The History Channel, The Learning Channel, BBC Four, and WNET; features and shorts I’ve graded have played at the Telluride, Sundance, Tribeca, Hamptons, and Amsterdam film festivals, among many others; video art pieces I’ve worked on have been exhibited at the NYC Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), the Whitney Museum of American Art, and San Francisco’s Yerba Buena Center for the Arts. You can check my IMDB listing to see my latest specific credits."
- GenArts Sapphire Visual Effects - Todd Prives
An exciting world premier announcement.
GenArts will also be showcasing a project produced by local wedding videographer Alan McCormick using GenArts plugins for Final Cut Pro. Todd Prives, Sr. Business Development and Marketing Manager, will then also demo how to build similar effects using GenArts tool for FCP.
Todd Prives is the Sr. Business Development and Marketing Manager at GenArts with over 8 years of industry experience in production, post-production and visual effects software. At GenArts, he is responsible for effects development, training, and product demonstrations for customers worldwide.
